Sketch-N-Scrap Birthday Bash Challenge

Happy Birthday Sketch-N-Scrap!   It’s time to PARTY!!  This month we have been celebrating with loads of challenges and prizes over at the Sketch-N-Scrap Challenge Blog and at all the Design Team member’s blogs.  There is still plenty of time to get in on all the action and fun, because now it is my turn to host a challenge.

birthday bash

My challenge is a Word Challenge, where you use things on your project that begin with the letters of the word.  So, like I said “Let’s Party”, cuz the challenge word is P-A-R-T-Y.

Here is my layout:

DSCN3508

P = photo corners; A = alphabet stickers; R = ribbon; T = tissue paper; Y = yellow elements

You don’t have to use the same items as me, just as long as the items you choose start with the letter.

Now, how about some details:

DSCN3496

The imperfectly-perfect title, written by my son, on the MME sticky note.

DSCN3481

Lyrics from the 1980’s song Electric Avenue, by Eddy Grant.  So fitting for this wild rockin’ t-shirt.

I wanted this background paper by Scenic Route to look like the notebook papers my son pulls out of his backpack, so I first applied a Jenni Bowlin Studio ink pad in Weather Vane in certain areas and then sanded.

DSCN3493All the supplies I used to created this layout were from the JBS Mercantile March 2014 Kits with the addition of tissue paper, ribbon, and photo corners.  This fair ribbon I created includes a vintage milk cap as a base and a JBS Chalkboard Flatback as the center piece.  If you would like a few instructions on how to make a fair ribbon click here.

And speaking of Jenni Bowlin Studio, this challenge is sponsored by JBS Mercantile!!  One random winner, chosen by random.org, will win a $20 gift certificate to spend at  JBS Mercantile.  Thank you JBS!!!

To enter:

  1. Create a new project (layout, card, altered art) for this Word Challenge.
  2. List the items used for the word PARTY.
  3. Link up directly to your blog post in the comments of this post.
  4. Create a link to this blog post.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  The deadline for this challenge is June 20th.  I will announce the winner on my blog shortly after that.

Good luck!!!  🙂

A Dreamy Day in Paris

Hey there!!

It’s mid-month…time for another challenge at Sketch-N-Scrap!!  Here is the May 15th sketch; Sketch  #57 created by Kelly:

And here is my take…A dreamy day in Paris:

Instead of using gesso, like I would usually do, I decided to change it up and use a sheet of vellum to tone down this patterned paper.  I really had fun with the vellum, figuring out what to put under it and what to put over it.  I dripped Mister Hueys in Clay on the patterned paper under the vellum where the sequins where attached.  Also, I just love how you can see the entire Teresa Collins photo corners through the vellum.  I will definetly be playing with vellum more!!!

Natural Beauty

Hey everyone!!

I’m super excited to share with you the new Inspired by Sketch Challenge from Sketch-N-Scrap!  The reason I’m extra excited this month is the Inspired by Sketch in based on one of my layouts!!!  Thanks Lisa and Kelly!

Here is the Inspired by Sketch #5:

And here is my layout that Lisa based her sketch on:

DSCN3270

I brushed and splashed on reddish-brown watercolor paint behind the vintage ephemera and photo.  I took the photo in Yellowstone a few years back.  I think the photo looks like an organic abstract painting.

I added tangles of cream thread under the Jenni Bowlin Studio wood veener “journal” and under the title and labels.  All supplies are from the JBS Mercantile March 2014 kits.

I hope my layout and Lisa’s sketch has inspired you to play along with us this month at Sketch-N-Scrap.  Just pop over to Sketch-N-Scrap and link up for this challenge!  Remember, because Sketch-N-Scrap is turining 2 this month, there are two chances to be a winner.  The prizes are a $15 gift certificate from The Robin’s Nest and a $15 gift certificate from the Paper Bakery.

Easter Blessings

Hi there!

I hope you’re not tired of Easter layouts, because I’m sharing my one and only.  I’m not a big holiday scrapper, but I like to at least get one layout done (sometimes two) to help get me in to the spirit of things.  This page is based on the new May 1st Sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap.  Here’s the sketch:

Here’s my layout:

I kinda changed it up a bit and created a collage that includes my little bunny sketch.  All the supplies I used for this page came from the Jenni Bowlin Studio March Kits, which are still available here.  I did add tan Bazzill cardstock, JBS Sage Lace Paper Tape, inks, and paint.

And now for a few of details:
