A Things That Shine Pocket Page

Hi everyone!  Today I’m excited to share with you my very first pocket page and I created it with items from Ashley Calder and the Things That Shine Kits.

When I look at Ashley’s kits I see so many possibilities: traditional layouts, cards, art journals, Project Life, etc.  Even though I don’t do Project Life I am intrigued by the process and have wanted to try some pocket page scrapping for myself.  I had recently done two layouts from the same camping trip, but I still had some photos left that I really liked.  One layout #catch was for JBS and the other You Love to Camp was for Things That Shine, so I blended the look of both layouts using mostly items from the First Days of Summer kit and the Electric Blue and Neon Green Color packs and created and insert using the Becky Higgins Design A pocket page.

Here’s the front:DSCN3777

Here’s the back:

Details:DSCN3786This super cute camera stamp, star and green washi is from the First Days of Summer kit.  I love this little camera and stamped it on some patterned book print paper to give it more texture and depth.  I adhered the star to the outside of the pocket page.

I created some of the 3×4 cards with leftover patterned paper from the two original layouts.  This is a sort of a title card with thickers and stitching around the edges.

This corrugated tag and colorful twine is from the First Days of Summer kit.  It lays over and envelope (also from the kit) that you can see from the other side.  I was so excited to make a see through shaker pocket which you can see a peak of here. It contains sequins from the Electric Blue Color pack.

Here is that pretty envelope from the First Days of Summer kit.  I just trimmed it so it would fit the pocket and stitched the bottom closed.  It holds the business card from the candy store I refer to in the journaling.  I added three gems from the Neon Green Color pack to the fun shaker pocket.

This pretty little fabric heart is from the First Days of Summer kit.  I added it to the outside of the pocket and I just love the dimension it brings to the page.

This tag, thread, and this sweetest little camera charm also comes in the First Days of Summer kit.  The 3 relates to the three trees and the journaling from above.

Here are the two layout this insert goes with.  I can’t wait to get them all together in my album.

I had so much fun doing this pocket page, I already have plans for another one.  With all the bits and pieces that come in the kits from the Things That Shine you can customize  and personalize pocket page filler cards that you have, make your own unique and beautiful cards, and embellish your photos.  Visit Ashley’s etsy shop by clicking here to see all the shiney goodness for yourself.

One last thing, I just have to give a shout out to Niru and Stephanie., two project lifers that I follow.  Their beautiful PL spreads are what inspired me to try pocket page scrapping for myself.  Yay!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see ya soon for more shiney projects!

Also, I am linked up at Paper Issues new issue, Say Cheese and on Niru’s blog.

Four Corners

Hey everyone!!  I’m super excited to share that today my Guest Designer post is up over at the Jenni Bowlin Studio Inspiration Blog featuring this layout, Four Corners.  Be sure to  pop over there and read a little more about me and see some favorites from my crafting area.  Here is my favorite layout I made with the JBS July Kits:

In this layout, Four Corners, the photo says it all.  My son had each appendage
in a different state!  I gessoed the kit exclusive patterned paper and had fun
with gold spray ink for the background.  I created a medallion of sorts by
layering the wood veneer dominoes, flair, and metal star.  This was such a fun
layout to do and actually the “proof we were here” tag inspired the whole thing.

Details, details…

I had so much fun documenting my vacations this month with the JBS July Kits.  Thanks JBS for having me!!  You can see the three other vacation layouts I created for JBS: July 4th, 2012, #catch, and Musee d’Orsay.

Thanks for stopping by!

You Love to Camp

Hey there!  I’m finally posting my first Things That Shine layout today!!!  It has been a stressful few weeks of major computer problems leading to a not so sudden death last Thursday.  Ugh!!!  But, as you can tell I’m up and running, which means major dollars forked over for a new machine  and thankfully a techy type guy to transfer all our data over to this new beast.  So, on to the layout.

DSCN3769I used the first days of summer kit from Ashley Calder and the Things That Shine to create this layout.  This wonderful kit full of fresh greens and aqua blues was perfect for this camping layout.

DSCN3755This woodsy washi tape is a perfect back drop for my title.  I love the contrast of the masculine feel and the lovely sentiments.

To coordinate with the washi, I used walnut ink to customize plain cream photo corners.  The layer of dictionary paper is actually part of the kit packaging.  I just dry brushed some acrylic paint over it to coordinate with the green embellishments from the kit.

And last but not least, I had to include this detail, similar to my sneak post, of this super cute wood veneer tree and hanging birdie.  I placed the star embellishments around the tree to really give the feel of camping under the stars and also for my star camper!

So, pop over the Ashley’s etsy shop Things That Shine a get this wonderful kit for yourself.  It is perfect for capturing your summer memories; bike rides, picnics in the park, long walks, and more.  Actually I’ve got another project waiting in the wings I made with this kit and I still have left over goodies.

See ya soon with more Shiney Projects and visit Ashley’s shop so you can get Shiney too!!

Mid-Month Reveal at JBS

Hey there!

It’s mid-month reveal time at Jenni Bowlin Studio.  So, today I am sharing another July Guest Designer layout.

When I saw the postal themed items in Artisan Add-On I new they would be perfect for a Paris layout.  This is me 15 years ago in front of the Musee d’Orsay.  On this page I got painterly with ink and watered down acrylic paint, layered the postal sticker strips, and even created a pocket for the museum map.  Something about working with my Paris pictures makes me want to get extra artsy, add more
layers, and use trims.  I also included one of the Papercrafting Kit’s exclusive stamps, stamped in JBS Spice Tin ink, as the perfect elegant (French?) frame.

So hop over to JBS Mercantile and get yourself some fabulous July Kits, perfect for scrapping any vacation or stay-cation.  So far I scrapped 4th of July at Mount Rushmore, a fishing trip, and Paris with them.  I’ve got one more to share so check back soon to see what vacation fun I’ll be scrapping next!

Thank for stopping by!

Hi all!

I’m here today with my second Jenni Bowlin Studio Guest Designer layout.  I pulled the lighter toned papers and elements from the July Papercrafting and Artisan Add-On Kits to create this page.

This is an interactive layout I made for my son who loves to fish.  If he lifts up the flap he will see his catch of the day.  I used the JBS Seed Packet ink pad with the kit stencil to create the background. Over the stenciling I brushed and dripped on various inks.

Here are the details:

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope this page inspires you to get some of those vacation or weekend get-away photos scrapped.  See ya soon for two more July JBS Mercantile Kit layouts.
