More wood embellies!

I’m still playing with Claudine Hellmuth’s wood veener pieces from her Whimsical Woodworks kit from HSN.  This time I painted them first and then layered on the rub-ons that come in the kit.

I first painted this cute dress form shape with Claudine Hellmuth Studio painterly pink acrylic paint, then layered on top the green dotted rub-0n and the black line rub-on.  I thought about adding  some gems or a bow at the waist, but I decided to wait until it finds a home on one of my layouts or projects.  Then I can customize it to fit in with what I’m working on.

I made these teapot and teacup pieces even more fun, by first painting them with Claudine Hellmuth Studio yellow pastel acrylic paint, layering each with orange and pink dotted rub-ons and the black line drawing rub-ons.  I can envision little letter stickers spelling out “hot” on the teapot and “tea” on the cup, but again I will wait to make those additions.

I had so much fun making these custom embelishments.  I made sure to use  light colors of paint first, before I layered what Claudine calls rub-on swatches, so the dotted patterns would really show up.  I really love working with this kit.  You can do so much with these little pieces!

Here is the cute lid of the box this fun kit comes in.  This kit along with Claudine’s other papercrafting kits are now available at Click here to link directly to her page.  Also, click here to visit Claudine’s fun blog.

Claudine Hellmuth to be on HSN, Jan.23rd!!

I can feel the excitement in the air….Claudine Hellmuth will be introducing 3 new papercrafting kits on HSN this Wednesday, Jan. 23rd!!  I just love her retro -whimsical stlye and how she translates it into patterned papers, chipboard pieces, 3-D stickers and more.  Her scrapbooking and card kits are great, because they come with everything you need to make super layouts and cards.  You can also combine elements from her kits with supplies that you already have, which is what I did in the layout below entitled SUCH JOY.

DSCN1192I wanted to create a fun layout to go with the silly mood  my son and I were in on Mother’s Day 2011.  The bright and lively elements I chose from Claudine’s kits worked perfectly.

DSCN1197 Above are 2 wood veneer frames from Claudine’s Whimsical Woodworks Kit, which is still availible on at a discounted price.  I layered these cute wood pieces over printed journaling that I inked with chalk ink and emphasized with colored pencils.

I love this cute flower in a pot.  I layered this piece with rub-ons that come right in the Whimsical Woodworks Kit and topped it off with a bit of baker’s twine along with my own journaling.

This little cluster of embelishments at the top of the layout include a fun blue and white self-adheasive trim from Claudine’s Super Swell Scrapbook Kit that is also available at a great price on

I distressed the photos, matted them on cardstock, and made unique photo corners by inking them and layering  paper.  This bit of yellow dotted patterned paper layered with colored pencil is also from Claudine’s Super Swell Scrapbook Kit.

Claudine’s kits always come in such fun amazing packaging that she designs.  They not only cutely store the kits, but look wonderful displayed in your craft room or area.    To see previews and videos of the 3 new kits she is introducing on HSN Wednesday Jan. 23rd, visit her blog by clicking here.   Also, click here to visit her page at and get yourself some of Claudine’s goodies now!

The Queen Mum

I created this layout for Lisa Truesdell’s  Start Here workshop at Two Peas in a Bucket.  It is such an informative class that I am so enjoying!  This layout is for the Color Challenge, in which, I used a home dec. magazine page for my inspiration.

I distressed, crumpled up, and inked with gold this dear bird from the        Jenni Bowlin Studio Wren Accessory Sheet.  I also inked these JBS letter stickers, originally cream, in Ranger’s true blue Archival Ink.

Here I used a shipping tag that I altered with layers of walnut ink and a mixture of  Claudine Hellmuth Studio gesso in white and black.  I then stamped the date first in gold ink and then a couple of times in black.

I painted this lovely vellum feather from JBS with Claudine’s landscape green and topped it with the same JBS cream letter stickers.

To emphasize this darling picture of my mom I used this vintage looking frame from JBS.  It is a page from Jenni’s Look- Hodge Podge Book.  This frame was just calling out to be distressed, so I listened by sanding, bending and inking with gold.

Here is a fun winter layout I created for the Echo Park Paper Company WINTER WISHES Project Challenge over at Two Peas in a Bucket.

Lately, I’ve been getting lots and lots of inspiration and ideas from Ashley Calder’s designs.  She  loves to include  fair ribbons on her layouts and some poetry or prose for her journaling.  You should defintely check out her blog THINGS THAT SHINE and I know you’ll be inspired too!

I thought our funny little snowman deserved a prize!  I create this fair ribbon by gathering a tissue trim from Claudine Hellmuth’s Holly Jolly Holiday kit, topped with a Vintage Style button from Jenni Bowlin Studio, and layered over paper ribbon I cut from the Echo Park WINTERWISHES line with  added white dashes.

Yes, I’ve been known to write a bit of poetry in my day!

UPDATE:  I was announced one of three winners for this challenge!!  Thanks 2Peas….yippeee!!!!
