In the Driver’s Seat

Hey everyone!!  Today I’m sharing a new baby layout made with various items from Things That Shine Kits and Bits.

DSCN4358For the background I layered and stitched down two different vellum dotted papers from MME over a sheet of patterned paper from Crate Paper’s Boys Rule collection.  Then I began adding bits and bobs from Ashley’s amazing Things That Shine store.

I used these blue alphas from BasicGrey to create the title and dotted the eye with a tiny gold star from the Things That Shine embellishment pack Pop of Color in Neon Pink.  I painted this Things That Shine die cut star label with light blue acrylic paint, tucked it under a piece of book page from the kit packaging and layered it over a wood veneer flag tag from the Leaves are Falling kit.

Here’s a fun layered embellishment I made with washi tape from Things That Shine, which Ashley sells by the foot.  I roughly cut out the FUN label and stuck that down as my base and began to layer on top.  I cut this little flag tag trimmed in light blue from another Things That Shine washi tape, then stuck it on a piece of white paper and then it cut out again.

I layered some of the book pages that Ashley uses in the kit packaging under the photo creating a bundle that I tied up with seam binding from the Leaves are Falling kit.

A cute tiny little light blue clothes pin from the Happy Day kit used to hold on a couple of stars.

And the little stars themselves.  The yellow star comes from the A Love story kit and the red star comes from the Pop of Color in Red embellishment pack.  You can find these gold foil mini tags sprinkled throughout Ashley’s kits and bits or you can purchase the tags in gold and silver by themselves.  They are just awesome for showcasing little items.

Visit Ashley Calder and the Things That Shine here and see what she has in store for you!  I know she has an amazing limited edition Halloween kit to scrap all those Halloween photos you just took or have taken in the past.  So go and check out that spooky goodness!!!

Thanks soooo much for stopping by and I’ll see ya soon!!!  🙂

A New Shiney Pocket Page

Hey everyone!

As promised I’m here to share my second ever pocket page.  This is a Design D pocket page from Becky Higgins.  I just cut one side of the 4×6 pockets off to suit the amount of photos and cards I wanted to use.  I made this insert to go between my last two Easter layouts, using the same Things That Shine Kits and other scrappy products.  I used the Things That Shine Spring Showers kit, sequins from the Pops of Colour packs in neon pink and neon green, a hand painted tag from the Pop of Colour pack in neon yellow, a bit of washi from the Days of Summer kit, and one of Ashley’s gorgeous handmade feathers.

Here you can see I have two see through pockets.  I made a shaker pocket with sequins and those super cute wood veneer umbrellas from the Spring Showers kit and stitched an arrow, cut from Echo Park patterned paper, on top of another page protector pocket.  I handmade the 3×4 cards using patterned paper with a little misting, pink patterned fabric tapes from the Spring Showers kit, and  stitched on sentiments cut from an Easter card sent from my mom.

DSCN3937Even though this is a pocket page I can’t seem to get away from making titles.  At age 11 my son is still Lovin’ the Bunny and I wrote a little note to him about that in the top right 4×6 card that I made.  I use this floral patterned envelope, tag, and lavender floss included in the Spring Showers kit for this secret journaling.

I love that the Crate Paper patterned paper I used for this card says Field Research in the top right hand corner.  I thought it was a perfect background for notes and a taped on feather.  And here is where I apologize for my lack of photography skills!!!  I am having a tough time with the glare on the pocket pages and would love any suggestions for improvement and also I was experimenting with the size at which I was photographing my pages and I guess I went to small.  Yikes…but I wanted to post it…You can always enlarge on your computer to get a better view and please feel free to ask if you having any questions about how I did anything or what supplies I used.

Here is how my Easter pages will go in my album:

Did you know Ashley sells washi tape by the foot in her Things That Shine shop?   It is great to get a foot or two of a variety of tapes instead of having to by whole rolls that you never will use.  I for one am loving this.  Pop over to her shop and check out all the amazing patterns she has!  Also, consider following me on Pinterest where you can see the current Things That Shine kits and bits I am using, my Things That Shine projects, and all sort of other of loveliness that catches my eye.  🙂

See ya next week with a new Shiney layout, that I have to reshoot 😦

Happy Scrapping!!!

A Simple Tradition

Hi all!  I’m super excited to share with you a new layout I created with Ashley Calder and the Things That Shine embellishment kits.  In the layout featuring our colorful Easter eggs from this year I used Ashley’s beautiful Spring Showers kit, her handmade feathers, and Pops of Color packs in Neon Yellow and Neon Pink.

DSCN3879

The items in the Things That Shine kits are so dreamy and I just love how the various kits work together.  Also, I love how the kits are wonderful on their own, but can also bring your stash to life.  Here I chose some patterned papers from my stash that weren’t too old, but now they feel brand new.  The feather pattern from Studio Calico make the eggs feel like they are in a nest and so I pulled out this gorgeous silver feather handmade by Ashley that goes perfectly with the label and other hints of silver in the Spring Showers kit.

DSCN3873

I just love how the tip of the feather appears to have been dipped is chunky silver glitter.  Behind you can see a bit of the pink gingham fabric.  This is actually one of three patterns of self-adhesive fabric tapes that come in the Spring Showers kit.  I just cut this one in half and stuck the pieces down to go underneath each side of the photo. These pink sequins, from the Pop of Color in Neon Pink pack, are so pretty I felt like I was painting with them as I placed them over misted drips.

When I first saw the pale aqua blue tulle from the Spring Showers kit I thought of Easter dresses, so I created a ruffly little banner at the bottom of the page.  I hung these tags, also from the kit, and adorned them with the included bits and pieces.  The star tag in the center is made by Ashley; I just added the turquoise bow.

I just adore these hand painted tags from the Pop of Color in Neon Yellow pack and with the addition of the cute hearts that also come in the Spring Showers kit I created two more tags for my banner.

And one more detail of the sequins because I just have to share my hand stitching.  I really love the look of this embroidery floss hand stitched over the machine stitching.  Ashley includes the perfect amount of coordinating floss in her kits and I just love the soft feel it brings to my projects.

Why not treat yourself with one of Ashley’s beautiful embellishment kits; just pop over to her shop and see all that she has to offer for your scrapbooking and crafting needs.

Also, you can follow me on pinterest, where I created a Things That Shine Kits and Project board where I not only pin my shiney projects, but the shiney kits that I am currently working with.  That way you can get a sneak peak, before the actual sneak, lol!

As always, thanks for stopping by and have a fun and crafty day!  Stop back by on Monday when I will be posting my addition to the “blog tour”.

See ya then!

🙂  Evie
