Wow, it’s June 1st!  I can’t believe it!  Summer is fast approaching and I am looking forward to a slower pace.  How about you?  Well, before we slow down let’s get some scrapping done.  Join us at Sketch-N-Scrap for a new sketch challenge and a chance to win a prize from Chic Tags!!

Here is Sketch #58:

Here is my take on the sketch:

The jounaling reads:  Trying to speak our language.  He’s Murphy the talking dog.

Murphy is a beagle mix and apparently beagles like to try to communicate with their owners in their owners’ language.  It is interesting, to say the least, with some of the sounds he makes.  Sometimes it gets a little freaky.  LOL!

Still working through my March 2014 kits from JBS Mercantile for this layout.  I only added kraft paper, inks, teresa collins photo corners, and ribbon.

Here are some details:DSCN3534

I stamped on kraft paper with the exclusive PaperCrafting Kit stamp to create this background paper.  To create the border, I painted the back side edge with chalboard paint, punched it with the JBS “ticket please” punch, and added two rows of stitching.

I added some drips and drops of ink…Color Shine in Sweet Cherry and Coral…Mister Huey’s in Dark Calico.

Always important on a layout, the date (or approximate date) of the photo.  I use the same Sakura white gel pen that I used for the journaling to hi-light these number stickers from jillibeanSoup.

I just love this little cluster of embellishments!  The JBS “speak” chalkboard flatback, the Dear Lizzy puffy sticker heart, the punched kraft heart using the kit stamp and JBS Cough Syrup ink, and Murphy’s worn out dog tag.

Have some fun with this sketch and link your layout up over at the Sketch-N-Scrap Challenge Blog.  Remember, you have a chance to win a prize from Chic Tags and be our Featured Scrapper of the Month.

  1. I love your layout! Our last dog was a beagle mix, too, and she would make some interesting sounds when trying to communicate with us. You could tell by the expressions on her face that she was trying very hard to understand us, and to make us understand her. I think beagles are very intelligent!
